Tasty Tuesday #1

Reuben Krabbe is the guy to talk to about Tasty Tuesday. The link provided gives a brief explanation of what this whole thing is about. I think it’s pretty cool. And just like #nogjog09, I’m sure #TastyTuesday will become a trending topic on Twitter.

Here’s my first Tasty Tuesday.
A camping Trip that turned in to a snoozing trip. We spent most of the time in one big tent playing a game called Apples to Apples. This was the night we had a fire.

Lightroom 3 Public Beta – Thoughts So Far

Tofino SkyWhen a software company releases a new version of a program that is used by professionals and amateurs alike, it doesn’t always make it to a public beta test. This is not the case with Adobe’s Lightroom series. Every edition of Lightroom (Lr) is put through a public beta test. That is to say that if you have an email address, you can test this beta, provide feedback and test run the new version. Continue reading →

Trees and Fog

MBYC_IMG_0010_(Blog)I had the opportunity at the beginning of September to take my film camera on a boat trip up to Maple Bay on the west coast of British Columbia. There were few moments where I wasn’t wearing my full storm gear. It was wet. The first night we stopped at Portland Island, located just off the shores of Sidney. When we woke up, we had one of those few moments where it was sunny out. Great! Time to go explore. You’ve probably seen a few of the pictures from the Clean, Fresh and New post. After doing some rescanning and some editing, here are a few more shots from that trip. Continue reading →

Clean, Fresh and New.

MBYC_IMG_0018_(Blog)Just in case you haven’t noticed, I’ve made a few changes around the site. I had heard a few comments that my site was cluttered with visual information and inconsistent. I thought to myself, what is a clean and clutter free design. White. It’s simple, effective and brings the eye to the photograph itself. And considering I am a photographer and this is a photoblog, that almost makes sense. Redesigning the main website was a tricky decision, I wanted to keep my logo that I had, but it just doesn’t work very well. It seems like a stamp. So it’s been redefined and cleaned up as well. Please let me know what you think of the new layout. I’m open to opinion and suggestion.

Portraits

InskipNot much to be reported this week. I haven’t taken many pictures other than the few HDR’s and a some more landscapes. Here’s one of the other HDR’s that I did.  I can see the benefit to HDR and I can see it getting out of control.  It has it’s place and that’s all that needs to be said.  Thanks to everyone that commented.   Next week, I hope to have some more images up of some newer material.

Is HDR dead?

Seriously.  I tried doing a few HDR pictures the other day, and I just got around to uploading.  I like them, but are they dead?  Is taking 50mb of pictures and creating one super-saturated image gone the way of the d0d0?  I haven’t seen a lot of good HDR shots in a long time and mine don’t even come close. I’ve never been great at HDR but it’s fun.
